In general, regular films are made by big movie studios (ex: Disney, MGM,) using big name actors who can bring big money to the project or attract wealthy investors. Independent movies, on the other hand, are usually made by those with a good story, a love the project, and friends with a camera, but few have real financial depth. Independent films often get made through old fashioned grit and determination, using such bartering system, as in, “I don't have money but I can get chickens” sort of mentality.
The Boarder is of the independent variety. Those of us involved in bringing the long term effects of traumatized children to light are working diligently to raise the funds to buy chickens (to feed cast, crew and hosts), film, to rent expensive equipment, and to attract quality cast and crew who will help us beam this project brightly into the world.
Fortunately, many from Ravenna support this project and are willing to invest some of their resources. For those without big money, we still believe that if everyone who's interested in The Boarder were to donate $10 or $20 we'd easily have enough funds to complete the project.
So, to those who are donating dollars and volunteer hours, a hearty thank you because it is you who will shepherd this project to the end! And I invite the rest of you to join us in this valuable project that is truly taking on a life of it's own and will soon be out there helping children and families of the world.
Have a great week and Bless you all! Jane Ryan
