This week the crew begins to arrive in town, beginning with our Line Producer, Zac Heath. Zac is a filmmaker originally from a small town in Arkansas so he's excited to meet Ravenna's wonderful people. His job will be to finish up all the plans before Producer Andres Barahona and Director of Photography, Carmen Cabana, arrive in early October.
Most of the actors and cast will arrive on Sunday October 10, when we'll pick them up at the airport, and bring them to Ravenna so they can get settled. The actual movie shoot starts bright and early on Monday Oct. 11, so they'll need to unpack quickly.
In the meantime those of us here at Ground Zero,Plus! are finalizing plans to provide housing, meals, and a warm, welcoming environment for them, which won't be difficult at all... Fortunately for all of us involved with 'The Boarder', the group of volunteers from Ravenna and surrounding towns including Kearney and Grand Island, has grow into a large, loving, welcoming family. In case I haven't said it enough, Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for all you continue to do!
We've been holding rehearsals in Omaha and in Ravenna for all those who've won roles in the movie. What fun exploring our characters' backstories has been. Fortunately, an outstanding acting coach, Jolene Adams, will be with us here in Ravenna to lend her extensive skills to those of us with less experience. Her presence will make the acting roles easier and increase the quality of the movie.
Of course, we still can use some help:
**People to oversee, cook and serve meals, or organizations to offer to make noon meals for the hardworking actors, crew and volunteers.
**Donations of eggs, chickens, pork and beef to provide nutritious meals.
Hosts for homestay beds for actors visiting for a few days and for crew who will be here until early November.
In 'The Boarder' movie Ravenna will be portrayed as a beautiful, peaceful suburb of a larger city. We anticipate filming here will bring curious folks to Ravenna to see what's going on, which will add to the economic boon that will accompany making a movie for worldwide audiences. I pray you will enjoy the new people who will be visiting your lovely town.
Also, don't forget to put October 17th on your calendar for an event you won't want to miss! The 4:30 to 8 p.m. fundraiser will offer a Meet and Greet with the actors and personalities involved in 'The Boarder' project, followed by many Nebraska artists who will sing their way into your hearts. Come on out, collect some autographs, and support the talented musicians.
