I anticipate that during filming there will be a couple of chances for you to hear the choir sing in Ravenna. You may not know this, but right now there is also a second choir that's been formed in Omaha, one that specializes in gospel music under the direction of Ms. Janet Ashley. The nearly 40 voice choir has been in rehearsals for a while now, and during filming the Ravenna branch of The Boarder Choir will join the Omaha singers for an event that will be both exciting and newsworthy!
Here in Central Nebraska, rehearsals are held at the beautiful New Life Assembly Church in Kearney under the direction of Pastor Geri Anderson and Ravenna's own Teresa Mingus. Practices are scheduled for 6pm on Sunday's on July 18, August 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29th. To contact Pastor Anderson please call 308-234-1881 at the church during business hours.
Here's a list of items needed in preparation of the September shoot:
A DOG, medium sized, sweet-tempered, to play “Lady”. The dog will need to know a few basic commands and to follow directions well. Both the 'star' and the owner will need to be on set for a few days in Sept-Oct. and will be provided room and board in the area, if necessary.
HOST FAMILIES for Actors and Crew members who will be working in Ravenna for the shoot. Several Cast members will visit for only a few days and will need accommodations for short stays, while others will be in Ravenna for longer. Please contact Mrs. Debra Reimers or Mrs. Marty Russell at Ravenna's UMC for applications. Please let the coordinators know how much space you have available and how many days or when you may be available to host a guest for this interesting project.
DONATIONS... of meat, poultry, vegetables and/or fruit in season will be totally appreciated. All food donations will become part of the The Boarder pantry which will be used to provide food to the host families and churches who will be preparing meals for those involved in the shoot. Extra food items will be donated to Ravenna's Food Pantry
For anyone interested in helping support The Boarder project, it's not too late. Our volunteer group meets for a luncheon every other Wednesday at noon at the United Methodist Church (next meeting July 14th) to discuss filming preparation. If you'd like to be part of this exciting, history-making event, please feel free to just show up.
It is not too late to donate goods, services or funds. To do so please contact me (Jane Ryan) at email@example.com or call me directly at 308-383-8442 with any questions.
